Blogs for Educators

For some time now, Technology has enabled great strides to be made for Educators. What once was an era were the only way Educators could learn was via workshops. Now Blogging, Webinars, and various other methods are at the disposal of the Educator to get work done and learn. Some of this kind of learning can take place on the blog. It may be something simple like learning the importance of Action Research. It might be directing an Educator or Administrator to resources to help resolve issues (i.e. school uniforms, bullying, etc.) In any case, what once was resisted by the immergence of the Internet has now become a remarkable tool to help better Educators and our students as well.

  1. I agree with technology advancing in education. Through the use of blogs, educators are able to interact with people in the same career all over the world.

  2. John,
I'm new to blogging as well, but this is going to open so many doors at the click of a button. I'm looking forward to collaborating, problem solving, and getting advice from other professionals. What a great tool for educators.

  3. I have found there are a ton of ways to use blogs and get students involved. At my previous position (teaching band) I wanted to show the students different styles of music. I set up a blog, posted different styles of music, and then they were required to go and listen and comment of the music. Their comments included what instruments they heard, and they were to describe why or why not they liked the music. I posted this on someone else's blog as well. But I wrote it here again because I am happy with the use that I got out of that blog.

  4. John Thomas,
I want to first of all thank you for helping me get this master's online program off to a great start. You were so nice on a web conference to guide me through a tough place in our last course. Thank you. I also appreciate your love of God and family. It shows even across the web. This degree is definitely going to FORCE me and others to learn technology so that we can lead our campuses along. Using a blog will take some getting used to. I can see how it would be useful as we come to a leadership position. I think in my elementary school, we would use blogs more with the faculty rather than students. I would say they would be really cool to use in the secondary schools. I love Tiffani Reynolds idea from the last blog. That is a great idea.
